Veterinary transfer semen spiral catheter is Insemination procedure
1. Bring female to insemination area where she can smell, see,and/or hear a boar. Apply back pressure to get an immobile stance.
2. Clean the vulva
3. Lubricate the catheter with K-Y Jelly.
4. Slowly insert the catheter into the vagina, keep the tip pointing upward to prevent it from going into the ureter.
5. Slide the catheter up to the cervix (8-10 inches). When the catheter cannot be pushed forward, turn it counterclockwise until it will not turn any further (3-4 revolutions).
6. Check the catheter placement by pulling back gently (repeat 4 and 5 if not locked into place).
7. Attach the semen bottle (80-100 ml) to the catheter. Deposit the semen slowly (3-4 min). A small amount of runback may occur. Difficulty in depositing the semen may be caused by the tip of the catheter being jammed against the cervix
8. Remove the catheter by turning clockwise while pulling outward.
